Return-to-Work Specialist
Purpose in action
When a workplace injury happens, people need clarity, support, and a plan. Return-to-Work Specialists help make that happen.
You’ll often be the one coordinating conversations that move things forward, from conversations about modified duties to resolving questions about what’s safe, realistic, and fair. This role blends fieldwork with case planning, and you’ll be a key player in bringing people together at a challenging time.
"The work we do matters. I’m a Return-to-Work Specialist and I help people who have been affected by a work-related injury or illness get back to work in a healthy and safe way."
Samantha, Return-to-Work Specialist

Growth and development
The WSIB values the expertise Return-to-Work Specialists bring to the table. You’ll be part of a supportive team, with easy access to your manager and peers, and a culture that encourages collaboration through challenging cases.
You’ll have access to ongoing development opportunities, including the Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) certification, which is a requirement for the role (and can be completed within your first three years if you don’t already have it).
This is a specialized role with a clear path for growth and impact, backed by thorough onboarding, training, and peer support.
Employees also have access to 1-on-1 and specialty coaching, along with science-backed resources that support personal and professional growth. These tools are designed to help employees thrive in all areas of life — not just at work, but as whole people.
Making a difference in our communities
We believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or supporting local causes, our goal is to create a safer, healthier world.
One example is our support for the Steps for Life campaign. The campaign supports families affected by workplace tragedies — a mission that reflects our values and the work we do every day.
