How to change your language preferences using your browser 

Most desktop browsers allow you to change your languages preferences to view a website or a specific web page in your preferred language.  

For mobile devices, your language preference will be determined by the language of your system settings.  

For MAC devices, your browser will automatically display in the default language of your computer. 

Chrome

To translate web pages in Chrome:

  • Open the Chrome menu in the top right hand corner of the browser
  • Click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner
  • Select Settings
  • Click ‘Advanced’ at the bottom of the menu
  • Under 'Languages', click Language
  • Next to the language that you'd like to use, click the three horizontal dost on the right 
  • If the language you want is not listed, select ‘Add Languages’ and type in the language you would like to use 
  • Select “offer to translate pages in this language” option 
  • Restart your browser to apply the changes 

Firefox 

To translate web pages in your Firefox browser:

  • Select the browser menu in the top right hand corner of the Firefox browser 
  • Select Options 
  • Click the General option 
  • Select your preferred language form the drop down menu and any alternative you want available 
  • Restart Firefox to apply these changes 

Safari 

To translate web pages in your Safari browser: 

  • Right-click on the web page you want to translate 

  • Select the ‘Translate this page’ 
  • A translation bar will display below the browser address bar 
  • Select your preferred language 
  • Click the translate the web page arrow 

Edge 

To translate web pages in your Microsoft Edge browser: 

  • Open the ‘Regions and language’ page in your settings 
  • Select the ‘Add language’ option 
  • Add your preferred language 
  • Restart Edge to activate the changes
