Case Manager

Purpose in action

When someone gets injured at work, they need help from someone they can trust to provide clarity and guidance. As a Case Manager, you’ll be the person who brings that structure and empathy.

You’ll make decisions that determine benefits and services, you’ll support injured people through difficult moments, and you’ll ensure that employers understand what’s expected. You’ll also work closely with Nurse Consultants, Return-to-Work Specialists, and others to make sure recovery plans are realistic, fair, and effective.

What you'll do

As a Case Manager at the WSIB, you’ll be the primary point of contact for people with injuries and their employers, guiding them through the recovery process and where possible, the return-to-work process. You’ll make entitlement decisions, review medical information, and manage case plans that balance fairness and policy requirements, while providing the support that injured people need.

You’ll collaborate with internal teams, keep cases moving, and provide clear direction every step of the way. No two days are alike, and your ability to prioritize and problem-solve will be key.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll need a university degree and at least two years of experience in case management or adjudication, and customer service. You should feel confident navigating policies, making decisions, and balancing empathy with structure.

Strong communication, documentation, and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to keep things moving when cases are complex or sensitive.

Growth and development

Case Managers at the WSIB are trusted with meaningful responsibility and are supported from day one. You’ll have access to formal training, mentorship, and regular check-ins with your manager to build confidence and help you continuously learn and grow in the role.

Many Case Managers grow into specialized casework, mentoring, or leadership roles over time.

Employees also have access to 1-on-1 and specialty coaching, along with science-backed resources that support personal and professional growth. These tools are designed to help employees thrive in all areas of life — not just at work, but as whole people.

Benefits

The WSIB offers a strong benefits package that begins on your first day of employment. Employees and their eligible dependents receive extended coverage that goes well beyond the basics — including dental care, vision care with eyeglasses, and prescription drug plans.

One example of this commitment is our mental health coverage. Unlike most employers, the WSIB provides unlimited coverage for mental health services with 100% reimbursement. This support is available year-round and extends to eligible dependents, helping ensure that employees and their families can get the care they need, whenever they need it.
