Lung Cancer-Arsenic Exposure (Deloro Smelting and Refining)

Policy

Primary lung cancer in workers from Deloro Smelting and Refining Company exposed to arsenic is accepted as an occupational disease under sections 2(1) and 15 of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act as peculiar to, and characteristic of, processes and trades involving exposure to arsenic.

Guidelines

Entitlement criteria

Claims are considered when a history of exposure to arsenic in the primary treatment plant and/or cobalt oxide area at the Deloro Refinery for a minimum of 4 years is established.

Application date

This policy applies to all accidents. Benefits are payable from the date of accident which is the date of diagnosis or the first date that related symptoms are medically documented, whichever is earlier.
