Hi, my name is Kelly, I’m a bilingual Nurse Consultant at the WSIB

There’s no typical day in this role. Everyday has its own surprises but I usually start my day with listening to messages and reviewing claims I can do independently. That’s usually medication reviews or treatment extensions.  

During business hours I start calling customers. That’s when the surprises start!

I think to succeed in this role, one of the key factors would have to be empathy. I love that I can make a difference with the most vulnerable population. Whether it’s to talk to them when they need somebody to talk to, or coordinating care for them, I like that I can make a difference.  

 

Half of my customers are French-speaking only. I’m proud to serve them on both official languages

Our small team includes the Nurse Consultant, the Case Manager and the Occupational Therapist. It’s a holistic care.  

 

Every angle of the care for this patient is covered. If I can spend an extra five minutes with somebody and that can keep them away from going through a crisis, that’s my end goal.
