Responses to questions: Expression of interest on WSIB Scientific Advisory Table on Occupational Disease

WSIB has reviewed and provided additional information to those questions that were considered appropriate and/or deemed non-confidential for the purposes of this Expression of Interest. This Responses to Questions Document is not part of Expression of Interest Documents and does not amend the Expression of Interest Documents.

Our responses are as follows:

Is the Scientific Advisory Table on Occupational Disease exclusive to cancer?

No. Please refer to the Mandate of the Table as detailed in the Terms of Reference and the Expression of Interest.

Do you have a sense of the time commitment? How many meetings a year, for example?

Members are expected to attend meetings and review any materials in advance of those meetings (e.g., draft systematic reviews). The Table will have half-day meetings at least two times a year. Additional meetings or day-long meetings may be held at the call of the Chair as needed. For more details please refer to Section H of the Terms of Reference.

Would participation in the Advisory Table affect my ability to submit funding applications to the WSIB?

Table members seeking grants from the WSIB may have their applications subject to additional scrutiny. For more details please see Section E of the Terms of Reference.

Whether the WSIB would consider expressions of interest from people outside the province.

Yes. Expressions of interest will be considered from people across Canada.

Will the panel meet in person, virtually, hybrid?

While the preference is to have meetings in person, sessions may be held virtually or hybrid as appropriate. See Section J, subsection h, iv of the Terms of Reference.

Are travel costs reimbursed and if so what are the conditions?

WSIB will reimburse the pre-approved travel expenses of voting Members in accordance with the WSIB's policy for business travel. For more details please see Section H subsection j of the Terms of Reference.

A physician licensed in Ontario, but not working in Ontario appears to be eligible?

Yes. Expressions of interest will be considered from qualified candidates across Canada.

Does membership of the panel preclude being either an expert or provider of requested reviews?

For more details please see Section E of the Terms of Reference.
