2020 allowed lost-time claims by leading injury source
Over the past 10 years, people (bodily motion or condition) has been the most common source of injury for allowed lost-time claims in Schedule 2, making up 40 per cent of injuries/illness in 2020. Structures (including walkways, floors and buildings) was the source for another 19 per cent in 2020. Infectious and parasitic agents account for 11 per cent, up from an average of 2 per cent in the previous 9 years.
In 2020, men were most affected by three of the top five sources of injury. Strains and sprains were the leading nature of injury in four of the five categories. These injuries/illness were most common in people between the ages of 45 and 49 from a variety of Schedule 2 occupations.
