By the Numbers: Schedule 1 - Workplaces Employers
Overview
Over the past 10 years, the number of businesses and people covered by the WSIB has steadily increased. In 2020, we continued to cover 65 per cent of Ontario’s Schedule 1 workforce.
In comparison to 2019, in 2020 the number of businesses we cover went up slightly. However, the number of people covered by the WSIB, as well as the percentage of Ontario’s workforce who are covered decreased. The number of registered claims saw a signifcant decrease largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, injury and illness claims and noise induced hearing loss decreased by over 20 per cent.
